Build Plan

I intend to build a Cobra that honors the aesthetic of the Shelby CSX3000 series but integrates a modern powertrain and suspension. My favorite car is this series, CSX3040, is the car I plan to closely replicate.

My car is being built from a Factory Five MK4 Roadster complete kit with numerous additions and deletions detailed below.

Frame and Body

  • Tig-welded original style 4” round tube frame, black powder coat
  • Hand laid 3/16” laminate composite body and panels made with vinylester resin
  • Brushed look (scotchbrite and Sharkhide coated) 6061-T6 aluminum panels
  • LED headlights and taillights
  • 1-3/4” welded (single piece) rollbar, black powder coat
  • Front and rear quick jacks (non-functional), black powder coat
  • Windshield wind wings with mounted mirrors
  • Tinted sun visors
  • Paint TBD (Silvers and grays are favored)

Powertrain

Suspension, Brakes, and Steering

  • Front
    • LR Classics Wilwood manual 4-piston big brake kit with ¾” master cylinder and independent reservoir
    • Factory Five supplied upper/lower control arms and KONI coil-overs with black powder coated springs
    • Factory Five front sway bar
  • Independent Rear Suspension
    • LR Classics Wilwood manual 4-piston big brake kit with ¾” master cylinder and independent reservoirFactory Five supplied upper/lower control arms, toe arms, and KONI coil-overs with black powder coated springs
    • Factory Five rear sway bar
  • Steering
    • KRC Coyote power steering with bolt on reservoir (66302125) and ID:4 flow valve (25304000)

  • Front: Factory Five 15×8” Halibrand replica wheels, Cooper Cobra 235/60R15
  • Rear: Factory Five 15×9” Halibrand replica wheels, Cooper Cobra 295/50R15
